David Brainerd, the early American evangelist, once observed: "The idea that everything would happen exactly as it does regardless of whether we pray or not is a specter that haunts the minds of many who sincerely profess belief in God. It makes prayer psychologically impossible, replacing it with dead ritual at best."

So the answer to the question we are asking -- "Does prayer change anything?" -- must be an emphatic, “Yes!” But in this message we want consider how and why the Bible teaches us that prayer does matter, does change things, does make a difference.
