“Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls” (Matthew 11:28-29).

What inviting words! What a warm word of welcome to the soul who is heavy laden.

Jesus was regularly speaking to those in need - the hungry, the thirsty, the weary. He came not to call the righteous but sinners to repentance. To those who are weary of the burden of sin Jesus says, “Come unto me.”

Those who come to Jesus find rest because they see him as the all-sufficient Savior. And as they take his yoke, they learn of him. They learn more about his wonderful grace, and grow in grace and in the knowledge of the Lord Jesus Christ.
