“This one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before, I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus” (Philippians 3:13-14).

This message was preached on January 8, 2012 with these opening remarks:

“It’s the second Sunday in January. Some of you have made resolutions. Some of you are still thinking about it. A few may have decided, ‘I’m already a week late so I might as well forget it.’ Whether you want to consider a resolution, or simply a new commitment to follow Christ — the first of the year is a good time to take spiritual inventory. What is your focus? Our focus should be on Jesus Christ. I want us to look at some scriptures that will give us guidance in pursuing Christ and endeavoring to serve him in his kingdom.”
