Doubtless one reason we often don’t feel Jesus’ compassion for others is because we are not rubbing shoulders with the needy regularly as Jesus was. It was when Jesus saw the crowds that he was moved with compassion for them.

Our great need then is to feel the need around us with greater intensity and sympathy, until it leads us to speak and act in response like our Savior. Every Christian should be praying for laborers, and laboring themselves, for the harvest.
