"God is not a man, that he should lie; Neither the son of man, that he should repent: Hath he said, and shall he not do it? Or hath he spoken, and shall he not make it good?" (Numbers 23:19).
We too often forget that God is not like us. God is not human.
In this single verse, we are reminded of four ways that God does not -- we may be thankful -- resemble the frailties that are universal to mankind: 1) God does not lie, 2) God does not change, 3) when God speaks he also acts, and 4) when God promises he also fulfills.
So if our souls are not firmly anchored it is not because God is in any way insufficient, but because we have allowed ourselves to be distracted from his abundant sufficiency! Join us as we consider the clear claim of Scripture: God is not man, and that's a good thing!
