“Fathers, provoke not your children to anger, lest they be discouraged” (Colossians 3:21).
In contrast to discouraging children by provoking them to anger, fathers are to give hope. We first consider, what should be the motive of the father. Of course, his motive above all else should be to honor God and use God’s word as his guide. Then we look at ways fathers can cause children to become discouraged. And finally how the father gives hope.
